Overview

The Wellness Branch oversees several key programs, including Outreach (mamoskamotowin), wihchihaw maskokamik Society (Bear Lodge) and Wellness Services. They coordinate community outreach efforts, manage the emergency shelter, and provide support for mental health and addiction through assessments, education, and refferals. The Branch ensures that all of these programs work together to support overall community well-being.

Outreach (mamoskamotowin)

Assist members who may be experiencing difficulties with having their basic needs met. They support members with short term servicing and also provide support and advocacy with partnering departments and resources through referrals.

Wellness

Wellness

The Wellness Department offers support for mental health and addiction issues. This includes alcohol and drug assessments, psychoeducation, and referrals to treatment programs. The team includes counselors, addiction support workers, addiction intake specialists, and a social worker to help with various needs to mental health and addiction.

Aftercare

Aftercare

The Aftercare team Recovery Coach plays a vital role within a multi-disciplinary team, providing essential support to individuals who are facing substance use challenges and complex life situations, as well as those who are in recovery. By integrating western approaches with traditional wellness approaches. The Recovery Coach builds trusting relationships and guides individuals through their recovery journey.

Facilitating a safe environment for individuals to set goals, develop action plans, connect with necessary support services, cultural resources, ceremonies, and spiritual support to restore balance in their lives.

As part of the Recovery community, The Recovery coaches promote social activities to foster community connections and inclusion.

Recovery Coaches are essential for supporting the continuum of Indigenous addictions and mental health services, including Outreach Services, Spirit Lodge Transitional Housing, Wellness Services, and Aftercare Services.

Who they serve:

Band and community members on and off Nation who are facing substance use challenges as well as individuals who are in recovery.

Wellness Centre (Administration) Beside the band office

Hours of Operation:

Office Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
