Job Purpose
The Administrative Assistant/Firefighter is a dual-role position within the Fire Department that combines administrative support with on-call firefighting duties. The position involves assisting with office management, maintaining department records, managing communication, and providing support to fire department staff. Additionally, the role requires the employee to be trained and ready to respond to emergencies, providing firefighting and rescue services as needed.Education, Experience and Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree in office administration or related field preferred.
• Firefighting certification (NFPA 1001 or equivalent) required.
• Previous experience in an administrative support role preferred.
• Experience as a firefighter or completion of a firefighting training program preferred.
• Ability to multitask and perform both administrative and physical firefighting duties.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and in high-stress environments.
• Familiarity with office software, filing systems, and office equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Physical fitness and ability to pass firefighting physical tests.
• Knowledge of fire safety protocols, emergency medical care, and firefighting tactics.
• Clear Criminal Record Check.
• Sign an Oth of Confidentiality.
Working Conditions
The Administrative Assistant/Firefighter will work in rotating shifts, must be available for emergency call outs including evenings and weekends, travel may be required. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
