CREE LANGUAGE TEACHER – CLOSED (INTERNAL) COMPETITION

Job Purpose

The Cree Language Teacher will play a critical role in preserving and promoting the Cree Language and culture among young children in a nurturing daycare environment. This position involves teaching the Cree Language through play, storytelling, and culturally relevant activities. The ideal candidate will have fluency in the Cree language, knowledge of Cree cultural practices, and a passion for early childhood education.

Education, Experience and Requirements

• A clean criminal record check must be provided, and the vulnerability sector must be completed.
• A clean child welfare intervention check must be provided.
• Knowledge of educational policies and procedures is an asset.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for special events.
• Fluency in Cree (speaking, reading, and writing) and a strong understanding of Cree cultural values and traditions.
• Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting.
• Knowledge of early childhood development principles and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
• Ability to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment.
• Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities or in culturally specific education programs.
• First Aid and CPR certification.

Working Conditions

Will be required to work Monday to Friday. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
