Job Purpose
The Addictions Counsellor will provide culturally appropriate and trauma-informed support to Indigenous individuals experiencing addictions. This role involves both in-shelter support and mobile outreach to connect with clients in various locations within the City of Edmonton.Education, Experience and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• Certification as an Addictions Counsellor or equivalent.
• Experience may be considered in place of education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and Naloxone administration is an asset.
• Experience working with Indigenous populations and understanding of Indigenous cultures and practices.
• Experience in mobile outreach or community-based settings.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.
• Proficiency in Cree or other Indigenous languages is an asset.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
Working Conditions
Shelter will operate 24/7, which may require employees to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shift schedules may vary, and flexibility in working hours may be necessary. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
