Job Purpose
The Fire Captain is responsible for leading a fire suppression crew and ensuring the effective execution of emergency response operations, fire prevention programs, and safety protocols. The Fire Captain supervises and coordinates personnel during emergency calls, training, and daily operations. This role requires excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to ensure the safety of personnel and the community.Education, Experience and Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in fire science, emergency management, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a firefighter, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Experience in training, emergency response management, and fire prevention programs is preferred.
• Certification in CPR, advanced first aid, and emergency medical services preferred.
• Class 5 drivers license w/ Q endorsement.
• NFPA 1001 firefighter level 1 and 2 or equivalent experience.
• Abide by the Enoch Fire Department SOP/SOG guidelines, Enoch Cree Nation Policy and Procedure Manual.
• Strong leadership skills and experience in a supervisory role within a fire department.
• Ability to work in high-pressure situations and make decisions quickly and effectively.
• Knowledge of fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical response.
• Valid firefighter certification and advanced certifications as required.
• Advanced First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical ability to perform essential firefighting tasks.
• Must be punctual.
• Must have excellent communication skills.

Working Conditions
The Captain will work in rotating shifts, must be available for emergency call outs including evenings and weekends, travel may be required. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
