Job Purpose
Responsible for the upkeep of the old and new cemetery grounds and the care of the deceased. They may also be responsible for the planting, maintenance and protection of the cemetery's plants and trees, etc. This includes tending to the plants, flowers, and graves; removing debris; and cleaning up the area. They may also be responsible for repairing or replacing tombstones and other cemetery equipment. This may include mowing, weeding, planting, and other basic gardening tasks. The groundskeeper may also be responsible for the care and upkeep of tombstones and other memorial markers.Education, Experience and Requirements
• The ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• The ability to stay calm under pressure and be able to deal with difficult tasks.
• Requires attention to detail and a lot of dedication.
• Knowledge about plants and flowers, be able to work with tools, and have good customer service skills.
• Be able to operate power tools and Grave Excavator (dig graves).
• The ability to work in all weather conditions in an outdoor environment.
• The ability to work independently and as a team.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• The ability to take direction.
• The ability to maintain equipment.
• Must have worked in a similar capacity in the past.
• Must have a clean criminal record.
• Preferably completion of grade 12 or equivalent (G.E.D).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong decision-making skills.
• Must also have a good sense of time, be able to work on their own, and have a flexible schedule.
Working Conditions
The Graveyard/Headstone Coordinator is required to work 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. May be required to work evenings and weekends. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
