Job Purpose

The Holistic Child and Youth Support Worker will provide a wide range of services with an emphasis on developing therapeutic relationships with children, youth, and their families. The Holistic Child & Youth Support Worker works as a member of an interdisciplinary team within the organization’s framework and standards as well as cultural standards within maskêkosak Cree Nation to provide support, guidance and mentorship that will strengthen the youth’s ability to grow and prosper in their community. The Holistic Child & Youth Support Worker acknowledges that the human spirit is intricately involved in the healing of the total person—mind, body, soul and spirit and will work with the client and the program to ensure that the holistic child is nurtured. The Holistic Child and Youth Support Worker will provide direct client care including individual and environmental assessment, intervention planning, individual, family, and group counselling, and referrals to other important service providers and agencies within the community. You will work collaboratively with other community services including school teams, teachers, social workers, nurses, physicians, RCMP, Victim Services, and local Indigenous and Non-Government Organizations to provide a comprehensive, person, and family centered approach to care while using wise practices within your work.

Education, Experience and Requirements

•Degree or diploma in a Human Services field; such as, Social Work, Child & Youth Care, and Counseling; would be an asset.
•Experience working with Indigenous populations and youth.
•Have a clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check.
•Sign the Confidentiality Agreement.
•First Aid and CPR- willing to obtain if not trained.
•Must have current ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and Mental Health First Aid- willing to obtain if not trained
•Knowledge of available programs and services, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering care in the community. Knowledge of applicable legislation, such as the Mental Health Act, Child Protection legislation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
•Holistic Child and Youth Counselor must maintain professionalism, practice in a relationship-based manner, be respectful and dependable.
•Have good organizational and comprehension skills.
•Employees in this field must be able to adapt to change and be innovative with current practices and skills.
•Must have their own transportation.

Working Conditions

The Holistic Child & Youth Support Worker will work at the oskayak kotawân House of Enoch Cree Nation unless advised otherwise. Will work Monday to Friday from 12pm-8pm, however, the incumbent must be willing and able to flex their schedule if or when there are program and/or service changes, or if there is an emergency. Will be required to work some evenings and weekends. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
