Job Purpose
The Kitchen Assistant will assist with the day-to-day operations within the KEA Kitchen. The Kitchen Assistant ensures that nutritious, healthy meals are served to the students and ensures all the safety measures in the kitchen are met to the Food & Safety Standards set by implementing & maintaining health and safety regulations.Education, Experience and Requirements
• Knowledge & skill of kitchen equipment, products, and cooking techniques.
• Knowledge & skill of cleaning equipment, products, techniques and standards.
• A genuine interest in preparing food and preparing meals in accordance with the Canada’s Food Guide.
• Flexibility and good health and stamina.
• The ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
• High level of professionalism and maintains student and KEA confidentiality.
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• Excellent communication skills-verbal and written.
• Able to meet multiple deadlines with constantly changing priorities.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and as part of the dedicated Team.
• Completion of high School as asset
• Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check & Intervention Record Check.
• Food Safety Certification.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar position and preparing meals for large groups (preferred but not necessary)
• Level 1 Early Childhood Certificate
• Must be open and willing for recommended training if necessary for job requirements by attending training programs, workshops, information sessions, and conferences when available.
• Minimum Class 5 Driver’s License and provide own transportation.
Working Conditions
The KEA Kitchen Helper will be required to work from Monday to Friday at Enoch Cree Nation KEA Building, with an 8-hour shift in accordance with the ECN Policy & Procedure Manual.
