Job Purpose
oskayak kotawan is an organization dedicated to maintaining the safety, care and general wellbeing of the youth that we serve. oskayak kotawan provides a balanced safe home to youth that supports the growth of spirit, body, mind and emotions through maskekosak nehiyawewin. The oskayak kotawan House Manager is responsible for overseeing the team of well-being support staff, Shift Lead and work as a direct support to front line staff in our youth home environment. They are responsible for the delivery of quality, client services in accordance with maskekosak newowacistwan natamakewin mission, philosophy, and position standards. The House Manager will oversee the delivery of holistic cultural supports, programming and youth in-house workshops. The House Manager will ensure that youth who engage in programming have access to staff and elder mentorship. The House Manager will ensure the youth's connection to the community is strengthened and they have overall support where and when needed.Education, Experience and Requirements
•Strong interpersonal skills with good oral and written communication.
•Must have a valid driver’s license and willing to obtain a driver abstract.
•Must have 2-million-dollar liability vehicle insurance coverage.
•Current Criminal Record and Child & Family Intervention Checks, and Driver’s Abstract is required prior to starting employment.
•Ensure a working relationship with co-supervisors, co-workers and clientele.
•Must have their own transportation.
•Ability to think and act calmly in emergency situations.
•Ability to manage and develop a team.
•Degree or diploma in a Human Services field is a must – i.e. Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Education, etc.
•Experience managing staff
•Three or more years working with families and youth.
•Three or more years of supervision experience.
•Must have current Assist (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), Mental Health First Aid, and First Aid and CPR.
•Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and a demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous people is a must.
Working Conditions
The House Manager will work at oskayak kotawan house hours of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, Will be required to work some evenings and weekends when required. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
