PLANNING COORDINATOR – OPEN COMPETITION

Job Purpose

Provides ongoing planning and coordination of land development to ensure that projects are sustainable, environmentally sound, and align with the short and long-term land use vision established by our community. Working as part of a team, the Planning Coordinator is responsible for the development, review, coordination, and implementation of land use policies, bylaws, regulations and related initiatives.

Education, Experience and Requirements

• Highly collaborative and accustomed to working within a team environment and achieving a balance between personal responsibility and collective accountability.
• Experience in Land Use Planning with an in-depth knowledge of philosophies, principles, practices, and techniques of land use planning
• Knowledge and understanding of reserve lands management.
• Demonstrated ability to assess impacts of proposed developments in relation to laws/bylaws on Reserve Lands
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation to groups.
• Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating community engagements.
• Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• GIS Mapping and image editing experience is a highly desirable asset.
• Experience and/or related training in survey techniques, GIS, map interpretation, map compilation, graphics, statistical analysis, civil infrastructure design experience and working in a diversified planning background.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of Land Use Bylaws, the Development Permitting process, relevant provincial and federal regulations.
• Excellent critical thinking and ability to negotiate complex development permit applications on logical, ethical and practical grounds with a focus on resolution.
• Professional, tactful, diplomatic.
• Excellent research, analytical and verbal/written/platform communication skills, including demonstrated public relations skills.
• Strong project management, time management and problem-solving skills, supported by the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the public, developers and other ECN staff and stakeholders.
• Experience in processing applications of varying complexity along with the organizational ability to lead teams that juggle multiple assignments while adapting to fluctuating workloads and deadlines.
• Post-secondary degree in a related field.
• Minimum 4 years experience working in a related discipline.
• Combination of education and experience may be considered

Working Conditions

Required to work from Monday to Friday 8:30pm – 4:30pm at Enoch Cree Nation Administration Building, while adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual. Some travel and overtime may be required.
