Job Purpose
The Policy Analyst / Technician is responsible for monitoring and analyzing federal and provincial legislative developments and assessing their impacts on Treaty rights and Treaty 6 operations. The role provides ongoing oversight of government legislation to ensure alignment with Treaty obligations and Maskekosihk laws. Working closely with legal resources, the position supports compliance, policy development, and implementation. The incumbent actively participates in community engagement and information sessions, contributes to public awareness and understanding of Treaty laws, and demonstrates a willingness to learn and apply the Cree language in their work.Education, Experience and Requirements
• Experience and knowledge of Treaty and government relations. Basic understanding of Cree Language and willingness to learn Cree.
• Experience working with Government agencies, other First Nations and Legal resources Ability to travel.
• Experience presenting information in a clear and concise manner to the public.
• Ensure knowledge and understanding of Treaty Laws for the people of Maskekosihk.
• Be available for questions, inquiries from the general public of Maskekosihk.
• Availability to travel to other First Nations or other areas within Canada.
Working Conditions
• Standard work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (with a one-hour paid lunch break); flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required.
• Primary work location: Enoch Treaty House, with occasional travel to other locations.
• Physical requirements include walking, standing, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 lbs, as required.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.
• Must sign and adhere to the Enoch Cree Nation Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.
