Job Purpose
Enoch Cree Nation is building a Recovery Community, consisting of a $30 million dollar treatment facility and a comprehensive, end-to-end continuum of Indigenous addiction and mental health services rooted in culture, ceremony and spirituality. The Recovery Coach will play an integral role in this innovative continuum of services, supporting implementation of it’s strategic and operational plan. The Recovery Coach works within a multi-disciplinary team to provide direct support to individuals facing substance use challenges and other complex life situations. By weaving together western medicine and traditional wellness practices, the Recovery Coach builds trusting relationships and plays a critical role in supporting individuals as they navigate the complex challenges of recovery. Recovery Coaches support the client’s care plan by facilitating a safe and supportive environment, empowering individuals to set goals, develop action plans, and engage vital support services necessary to meet those goals. The Recovery Coach will utilize a decolonizing perspective, connecting the client to wrap-around supports that aim to restore balance in the individual’s life. This will include facilitating access to culture, ceremony and spiritual supports. The Recovery Coach possess education in a related field, previous experience in addiction recovery or mental health settings, strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to individual care. The Recovery Coach will be committed to ongoing professional development and will participate in education and training opportunities.Education, Experience and Requirements
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•A certified Recovery Coach or Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (or equivalent training) is strongly preferred.
•Demonstrated experience in peer support, social service delivery, or related fields. Lived experience with recovery is a significant asset.
•Deep understanding of substance use disorders, housing challenges, and the challenges faced by marginalized communities.
•Knowledge of available community resources and the ability to navigate service systems
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
•Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and empathy.
•Minimum of two years of continuous sobriety.
•Knowledge of trauma-informed care and ability to take a trauma-informed approach.
•Proven crisis intervention skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
•Valid driver’s license is required as some offsite outreach will be required.
•Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
•Will have and maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.
•Training in Naloxone Administration/ Seizure Protocol
Working Conditions
The Recovery Coach will work in an office environment and is required to work 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. May be required to work evenings and weekends, travel may be required. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
