On Call Receptionist – Open Competition

Job Purpose

The Receptionist is the first point of contact for the Office of the Chief Department. Receptionist duties include offering administrative support across the Department. You will welcome guests and greet people who visit. The Receptionist will coordinate front-desk activities, such as answering phone calls, transferring them to the correct individual, as well as directing in-person visitors to the correct area. You will need to deal with all situations calmly and courteously. Multitasking and organizational skills are keen attributes needed for this role.

Education, Experience and Requirements

  • A High School Diploma is an asset.
  • Must be open and willing to take any recommended training required for the position.

Working Conditions

Required to work on call from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday out of the ECN Administration Building. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
  • Signed Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel to produce correspondence (letters, memorandums, presentations, reports, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience with filing and filing systems.
  • Clear Communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to receive, record and distribute incoming correspondence (mail, faxes, email and/or delivered packages).
  • Abide by the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedures Manual.
  • Record minutes at meetings, and report writing is a necessity.
  • Must be responsible, reliable, and dependable
  •  Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office.
  • Direct visitors to the appropriate personnel and offices.
  • Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls.
  • Ensure the reception is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationary material.
  • Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone and email.
  • Maintained office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk.
  • Update calendars and schedule meetings.
  • Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing, and faxing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
